Fashion Therapy: All About My New "Life Altering" Personal Styling Service

Okay okay, so you’ve seen me posting about it and you’re probably thinking “is this some kind of hokey wellness thing?”, and to be honest, yeah. It is.

You see, what started as an idea for a fashion styling service quickly became something that, in my mind, felt much more relevant. And why wouldn’t it? Clothing and accessories are survival tools for me, and my journey with my own radical style has been, and continues to be, pretty dang groundbreaking. In fact, for me, dressing up, up, UP has shifted peoples entire mindset around who I am. My personal style has attracted great friends, amazing career opportunities, and what’s more– it’s changed me from someone who never thought much of myself into somebody who feels capable and unafraid.

My personal style has attracted great friends, amazing career opportunities, and what’s more– it’s changed me from someone who never thought much of myself into somebody who feels capable and unafraid.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have days when I feel paralyzed to get out of bed, lethargic at the thought of tackling my to do list, or on edge about a thing I’m striving for. Emotions are just part of being alive. But suiting up in my power colors and smearing on my (makeup) warpaint makes me feel ready to tackle a challenging day with Hulk-like strength, even when I’m in full wallow mode.

Since dressing up holds a greater power for me than just looking, like, totally cute, I realized it would be selfish not to teach everyone how to hone their magic AND look hot in the process. We live in a stifling world which teaches us that imaginative style is childish, and that dressing down is, in many cases, a key part of the road to success. I remember agonizing over what to wear to job interviews, convinced that showing up looking something like a bank teller would be my ticket into a new gig. Spoiler: Not only did I never land the job, I also make a really unconvincing bank teller.

We enter new situations sheepishly, trying our darnedest to blend in, hoping that our solidarity will gain us mutual trust and admiration without ever considering how much destruction we’re doing by hiding who it is we really are. How are the things we desire supposed to find us when we’re playing small and invisible? Imagine a reality where, instead of trying desperately to scrounge up the things that you want in life, those things swooped down at you like hungry seagulls at a beach cookout. If opportunity is like a game of Where’s Waldo, how’s it gonna come a-knockin’ if you don’t stand out?

If opportunity is like a game of Where’s Waldo, how’s it gonna come a-knockin’ if you don’t stand out?

There are several principals of Fashion Therapy that tie the whole shebang together. They are as follows:

Upping Your Game

More is more when it comes to using personal style to raise your confidence. Styling shouldn’t be someone telling you how to dress and who to be. My approach is different– get clear on what your already unique look is, and then build on it. Cause when you look amazing, you feel amazing. And when you feel amazing, you play to win.

Raising Your Frequency

There’s some “woo” involved here. Frequency is energy– both the energy you cultivate, as well as what you send back out into the world. Low frequency people have low energy which means they don’t absorb much of it, nor do they radiate any– like a broken solar panel. Good style raises your frequency. Looking your best energizes you, and what’s more, it boosts the mood of those around you. I can help you become a positive force for the world and yourself, starting with the clothing you put on that fab bod of yours.

Attracting Your Desires

They say “dress for the job you want”, which is actually just a metaphor for manifestation– admittedly, one that works really well in this context. When we feel bad, we don’t put much effort into our personal presentation, which leads to us looking bad. When we look bad, we feel bad, so we look bad and then we feel bad, and well, you get the idea... If your awesome reality is currently in the toilet, throw caution to the wind and start dressing like a superstar. The universe gives us what we show up for, and when we turn out looking like we’re hungover on laundry day hiding under a hoodie like it’s 6th period detention, life’s gonna keep on handing us lemons. Let me help you dress for success, and we’ll see just how magnetic you can become.

Pulling Anything Off

This is the biggest for me.” I wish I could pull that off”, is the preferred self deprecating compliment given by instagram lurkers everywhere. In reality, you don’t know until you try, but when you do try, you need to do it in a way that truly suits you. The only thing that sets those taking big style risks apart from you, is a hearty mixture of confidence and self awareness. Two things I can help you solidify, so we can get you not only wearing the wildest looks of your dreams, but absolutely pulling them off.
